Andrew Murphy, MD, MBA

Biography

Andrew Murphy, MD, is proud to have served his country in the United States Marine Corps immediately after high school. During his time in the Marines, he worked in infantry and as a nuclear, biological, and chemical defense specialist. In 2003, Andrew completed his full term of service and was honorably discharged.

He then attended the University of West Florida, where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in biology. He attended medical school at the University of Florida, then came to Dallas, TX, to attend the University of Texas Southwestern and completed his residency in emergency medicine at Parkland Hospital. After residency, Dr. Murphy was an ER physician while serving as an associate medical director at Baylor University Medical Center, BUMC, in downtown Dallas – a high acuity setting that sees about 100,000 visits a year.

While working at BUMC, he realized there was a great need for improvement in the medical field from a business perspective, so he obtained his MBA from Southern Methodist University and sought leadership roles in his sector. Dr. Murphy then came to Legacy ER & Urgent Care in McKinney, TX, as a physician and site medical director. He continues to work clinically, but he has stepped into an executive role with Legacy ER & Urgent Care parent company, Intuitive Health.

In his role, Dr. Andrew Murphy works alongside Intuitive Health’s other leaders to drive excellence in the hybrid urgent care and free-standing ER model and to add value to partner hospital systems and their communities.
